UPDATE: The single has been validated, resulting in both WRs. See: https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1972

So, I got a .58 as my first 2x2 solve. But, right before this 2x2 round here at Canadian Open, a kid came up to me and showed me the scramble "so I could practice it and get WR". I looked at it for about a half second and barely saw it, but didn't practice the scramble. But I still felt the guilt running through because it was a 4 move scramble. So when I went up, I solved .58, and couldn't take it anymore, so I reported it, did an extra scramble, and got 2.xx + 2

So, you might ask why this solve was removed. Well, about 15 minutes before being called up to do this solve, a kid (who got the scramble for himself earlier in the round) came up to me and said "DUDE, PRACTICE THIS SCRAMBLE FOR ROUND 1 FIRST SOLVE -- IT'S SO GOOD YOU'LL GET WR ON IT". I proceeded to push him away because it's illegal to discuss scrambles at competitions. But, in the process, I got a peak at the cube and had a *rough* idea of the solution (although I didn't know it exactly).

Because of this, I admitted to the delegate of this mistake right after this solve (you can see the guilt on my face at 0:30), and thus had to redo this solve (and I failed) with another scramble. The truth is that I didn't even practice the scramble or anything like that at all, and anyway, anybody could've just watched somebody solving with the scramble and get the rough idea that I got. It's too bad that, yet again, I failed to get a good 2x2 single.

I also would've gotten world record average of 5 if it wasn't for this, because I also got a 1.37 and 1.46 later in this average. It would've been a 1.55 average. ;(

Scramble: F' R2 U2 R'
Solution: R U2 R2 F

EDIT:

This is just crazy. This was done literally two weeks ago. But, there was a big dispute about whether or not the 0.58 should count. The dispute went my way; here's the information: https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1972 At the time, I had no idea that the 0.58 would count, thus my boring reaction (actually ticked off because the +2). I'll hopefully upload a reaction video from home, haha.

This is the first 0.5x single and 1.5x average for 2x2 in the world! :D

0.58 - R U' R' U' R U2 F' U' R2 F' U2
x2
R U2 R2 F (LL skip, I guess)
4 moves / 0.58 = 6.9 tps. https://goo.gl/nDdbgQ

1.46 - F U' F R U R' U' R U R' U2
x y
R' U' R
D’ R U’ R2’ F R U R U2 R’ U’ (EG-1)
14 moves / 1.46 = 9.6 tps. https://goo.gl/ntkt6S

1.81 - U' R U' F R' U R U2 R' F U'
y
R’ U’ R2 U R’
U’ R’ U2’ R2 U’ R’ F2 R2 F’ U’ (EG-2)
15 moves / 1.81 = 8.3 tps. https://goo.gl/Ss4tS8

1.37 - R' F2 R U2 R' F R2 U' R U' R'
x2 y’
R’ U’ R U2 R’
U R U’ R2’ F R2 U’ R’ (EG-1)
13 moves / 1.37 = 9.5 tps. https://goo.gl/J5nDr1

3.67+ - R' F U2 R U F' R2 F R' F R2
x y
U2 R’ U R’
U’ F’ R U R’ U’ R U R2 F’ R U’ (EG-1)
16 moves / 1.67 = 9.6 tps without the plus two.
16 moves / 3.67 = 4.4 tps (lol +2) https://goo.gl/NoOrVt

i wondered what was up with that, i thought maybe you were in a different group but man, that really sucks. -hugs-

thanks for being honest :)

you really don't seem to have much luck with 2x2x2 single do you OTL

Retweet^

Honestly I don't think looking at the scramble for as long as that could have given you an advantage. Punish the kid, not you. You deserve this WR.
besides, did nobody else see the 4 mover?

I feel that Rami has really good sportsmanship for doing this, and if anything, they could give it back to him. But the kid who showed him the scramble is in clear violation of regulation 2g3, no matter if Rami saw the scramble or not, and this should be taken into action by the Board.

This makes me feel kind of bad. 4 movers, obviously for someone averaging sub-2 (or around 2), are very, very easy. Almost an automatic WR for us, but they are very rare. Hopefully they will change it so Rami does get the WR back, but I honestly doubt it. :(

Good job Rami for being honest! I think you should feel better being honest than getting the world record. People appreciate honesty.

He doesn't want the time to be accepted, so I doubt it would be accepted.
