When solving OLL case 2 and doing this algorithm (F (R U R' U') F' f (R U R' U') f')...

... I've always tried to do S instead of moving F' followed by f. I feel like one move would be faster even though it is a middle face and not the ends. Do other people do S or do most people do F' f?

Stick with F' f. Too fiddly to try and fingertrick it with an S move, unless you have plenty of time to practice it loads.

I find S easier than F' f or f F', but S' is much harder, unless you're doing an LUF alg (e.g. S L' U' L U r u' r' f). So for:
f R U R' U' f' F R U R' U' F', I won't do S', but for:
F R U R' U' F' f R U R' U' f', I will do S.

(or you could just use r U r' U2 R U2 R' U2 r U' r' and not have to worry about S moves at all :p)

You use a 3 gen alg for 2GLL?
Sometimes. I think R U' R' L' U2 L U L' U L R U2 R' is a popular alg for one 2GLL case.
R U R' U' R' U2 R U R' U R2 U2 R', What's going on?
I learned that alg because it was easy to learn; I don't often learn anything unless the alg is easy enough for me to remember without muscle memory.

The one I just posted is sexy move - back antisune - R U2 R'

Oh that is so much better

I do the S'. I start the alg with right thumb on DR sticker and right middle+ring on UR and URB, using righty index to flick the initial F and 1st U.
At the end of ... F (R U R' U') ... I shift the right fingers back, so that thumb is on DRB and middle is on URB, and shift the left index to ULF as it completes the U'.

I then flick the S' as though it were an F, using my right index to push UR down. The left index stabilizes the front layer.

(R U R' U') is easy ... then use right thumb to push f' from below.

I do like TDM's ... r U r' U2 R U2 R' U2 r U' r' ...as well, but perform it as: (r U r') U2 (l F2' l') U2 (L F' L')
