Hey guys,

I currently average around 2 Minutes on 5x5. So I didn't improved for some time and I thought about steps, which can drastically decrease my times.
So after around 1Min 20s to 1Min 30s I'm on the 3x3 Stage.

So I did an Ao12 in which I scrambled the 5x5 like a 3x3 and solved it without inspection.
The Average was 27.99s.

Are 28 Seconds normal in proportion to the other steps? Is the 3x3 Stage something which can go down a lot?

Thanks for the answers!

Greetings PixelWizard

I think the key for 3x3 stage on big cubes is:
1: getting a light and speedy cube (huachuang)
2: using almost exclusively outer layer turns (yeah roux sux)
3: being efficient

What do you average on 3x3?

Looking at your official times, 28s seems disproportionately slow to me, by a little bit.

You could do 3x3 stage practice specifically on your 5x5, or just practice pushing your tps on 3x3 stage to its limits (spam turning).

Although isolated practice isn't always helpful, so just general practice should suffice.

The only issue you should have is worse TPS. If you average 16/17, your 5x5 times should be 22 at most.
This is false. It is true to an extent, but the fact that you have no inspection for the cross on the 3x3 stage except for what you can manage to look ahead during L2E adds a couple seconds compared to 3x3 where you can fully inspect and start the solve with it all planned out.

I average sub 2:00 on 5x5 and my 3x3 stage takes like 26 seconds. Don't get my wrong, it needs some work, but I definitely think 28 seconds is normal.
