Hi! So, I can solve 2x2-5x5 and i was thinking on going to larger cubes. I have enough money to buy a moyu aoshi (6x6) or Moyu Aofu ( 7x7) but not both. Do i need to be able to solve 6x6 before 7x7? And is the regular shengshou 7x7 better and more stable than the moyu aofu? Thx in advance!

No. If you can solve 4x4 you can solve any order nxnxn fully.

Mini ss is the best 7x7, in my opinion, and is cheaper than the moyu. SS 6x6 is not great out of the box, so a moyu may be better. But the ss is a lot cheaper and can be very decent if you swap springs and set it up right.

I find 7x7 more fun to solve.

Honestly, I would say if you can solve a 6x6 then you can solve any NxNxN. Because 6x6s have obliques while the lower cubes do not. Obliques may pose a challenge during last 2 centers unless you know commutators beforehand.

To OP: get a mini shengshou 7x7!

no, 6x6 and up need commtators ( for like the last 2 centers) while 4x4 and 5x5 you can solve the last 2 centers without knowing any algs.

I had this dilemma last year as well and I skipped 6x6 and went straight to 7x7.

I'm pretty sure my 6x6 times started off so good (for me) from the start because I did 7x7 first. 6x6 is just less to look at and and when you learn your centers on 7x7 it's the same as 6x6.

I would say start on 7x7 and get it from Cubes4Speed, because it's cheaper there. But I still can't decide whether I like my SS or Aofu more. But honestly I would go with my Aofu because I put Dayan springs in my SS and I hate it now.

PS I spent and hour working on my SS 6x6 and it's amazing. It wasn't even that bad out of the box..
