How to lower F2l movecount?

Hi, I was wondering how to lower my move count for my F2L. I take about 40 moves for it, and average around 20-25 seconds. Should I work on my move count, or just work on look ahead?

Don't lower lookahead, improve it. I personally think that you should familiarize yourself with each case and be able to do each f2l case blindfolded. For example, solve the cross then find a pair. Close your eyes and solve this pair. Then open your eyes and do the same thing for another pair. If you think that a certain way you solve a certain pair is slow then look up an algorithm.

I didnt mean lower look-ahead, I mean lower movecount, OR work on look-ahead.

40 moves isnt actually bad. Good is 8 moves a pair, 8x4=32. So, just look ahead and pick the right pair, which will reduce movecount.

I just did the close my eyes and solve a pair. Each one takes about 3 seconds. With perfect look-ahead, that is 12 second f2l. However, my look ahead is horrible.
