Want to speedcube

Again. The world records are because the method has been out there longer.
That's an assumption. The top 100 official averages are sub-9.5. How many of those were set with Roux? How many Roux users are even that fast at home? In another recent thread, someone counted four Roux users with official sub-10 (good enough for top 172).

The method has been around long enough to achieve better success than it has.

Blockbuilding is more intuitive, thus, Petrus, ZZ, and Roux are more intuitive than CFOP, but require a bit more thinking.
That is exactly the problem. Roux is more move-efficient but relies more on intuitive steps, which require more thinking and are harder to spam TPS. Yes the method has potential; what holds it back IMHO is that it is much, much more difficult to master.

No, it is not an assumption. Alex Lau, in the future, will have a legit chance at getting WR. He already has a sub-8 average. Oh, and that is IN COMPETITION.

And no, Block Building is NOT the problem. IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO STATE THIS. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. If a person is AMAZING at blockbuilding and that type of intuitive stuff THEN PETRUS ZZ AND ROUX WOULD BE AMAZING FOR THAT PERSON. IF the person SUCKED at blockbuilding, then Learn CFOP or something else. I'm just trying to point out. Roux will be a contender vs CFOP in the NEAR future. This is like the battle between reduction and yau quite a few years ago. Remember what people were saying about yau? Like this stuff? And then a WR is acheived with it. Now it is the main method.

SUMMARY:
If you are good at blockbuilding, do either Petrus, ZZ or Roux
If you suck at it, learn something else (eg. CFOP. I'm sure there are others as well).

You stated (or at least implied) that the only reason there aren't more fast Rouxers is that the method hasn't been around long. If that's not an assumption, let's see your evidence. One fast user isn't evidence. Nor are capital letters. Yes the age of the method may be a factor, but there are almost certainly other factors including difficulty of mastering the method. Let's see your evidence that this isn't true. Otherwise you're making an assumption.

How do you know whether you're any good at block building before you've even chosen a method?

Obviously it depends on the person. Some will be better at block building than others. Alex is world class at it but that doesn't mean that a new cuber has as good a chance of reaching sub-10 with Roux as they do with CFOP. The very small number of sub-10 Roux users suggests the opposite.

That is why they TRY different methods. THey TRY roux, and they TRY CFOP

Think about this.
Every single day the number of people in planet C and R increase by one. Planet C was "created" 25 years ago. R was created a lowly 5 years for instance. Which will have more people living in it?

Obviously Planet C. This is the case with Roux
This is also the case with Yau and Reduction when yau came out

I get your point, but Yau was so better than Reduction that Sebastian set a WR with it. If you compare CFOP to Roux, then the best Roux solver doesn't have or has held a WR. You can't just say 100% that Roux is better. Roux isn't so much better than CFOP like Yau is so much better than Reduction.

How has this turned into a "which method is better" thread? We are here to help somebody. If you want to learn full CFOP, which is probably advisable cuz you know F2L, then try Bob Burton's Website, or you can get full PLL OLL guide cards at Wallbuys.com. Even MMAP's tutorial is okay.

I don't understand why people always recommend methods to new cubers. New cubers should be told to choose a method for themselves, and to research the roux/cfop/zz/petrus/other methods on the speedsolving wiki.
