Just a quick post to say hello, just joined this forum and hope to learn some new techniques and skills for my cube solving
My cube story - I got a Rubik's Cube as a gift many years ago, when I was too young to be interested in it. A few years later I learnt how to solve it, and practiced until i was getting times around the 3 minute mark, where i subsequently became bored.
A few years on and i've rediscovered the 'joy of cubing', halving my 3 minute time to an average of around 1 and a half minutes, with my quickest time being 1:17.91 (using the beginners method).
I am now determined to improve this time, and have learnt algorithms for a 2 look oll and 2 look pll. Using both of these, I average around 1:40 - 1:50 but hope to improve this with practice.
I also can solve a 4x4x4 cube that I bought a year ago, but this takes me about 15 minutes and I have not yet memorised algorithms for parity, meaning I cannot always solve it from memory :/.
The Rubik's Cube I am using is a very old and battered Rubik's brand, with white being unusually (I think) opposite blue. The stickers are peeling and its lubed with vaseline (which I know is bad) and I am looking to replace it soon, possibly with a DIY cube (is this a good idea? any recommendations?)
Thats enough about me, I hope I can learn from the advice you have to offer, and in time allow others to learn from mine
