Wow, Arvid, very nice!

It seems like you pause a long time between solving pairs. I'm sure I don't pause that long between pairs, yet my best is only a few seconds faster than this. It seems like you could easily be sub-5 if you could cut down on the pauses in execution.

Thank you both!

I think that the pauses is recalling. Is it worth it to memo slower, to reduce recalling?

Do you go over your memory before you start solving? A refresh (where you go over all your memorization in your mind without actually looking at the pieces unless you can't remember) can make a big difference; a second refresh can sometimes make another big difference. A third usually doesn't help at all unless you're having a bad solve. If you don't currently refresh, try a refresh. If you do, try a second refresh. I can usually get through a first refresh if it's going well in about 45 seconds, and a second refresh in about 35 seconds. (I don't include corners in the refresh, since they're in the audio loop.) So that's not a lot of time to add if it removes all the pauses.

I know that Chris Hardwick is now spending more than half his time on memorization typically, so as to make sure his solving phase doesn't delay from recall, and it's working quite well for him. I'm right about 50% memorization time, meaning I often memorize as fast or faster than Chris, and yet I'm probably two minutes slower than Chris on 4x4x4 BLD overall. But I turn too slowly.
