How to reassemble a Maru 4x4?

Hey. I just got my Maru 4x4. I popped out an edge pair to lubricate it, and when I put it back in, the cube felt jammed! I took the edge pair out again and couldn't figure out what was wrong or reassemble the cube. So I took the whole top layer out. It seemed that some of the little pieces in the middle (it's hard to explain, but they're not the rounded pieces between the edges, they're differently shaped) were placed oddly, but now I don't know how to put them back in! Can someone explain how I can reassemble this whole thing?
 
It seems to me from other people's posts that the maru 4x4 takes very long to put back together. I don't know if it's out of difficulty or strange mechanism or both. I also would like a tutorial on this as well haha.

I was forced to use tape to hold pieces together, but its basically a v-5 to assemble. Its one of the most frustrating things I've ever done.

Joey is right, while it is based off of the V-Cube design, it is not completely a V-Cube 4 KO.

Bleh, I have a problem...I can't get the last two layers. I just can't fit the inner edges because the last core "square" thing is differently shaped. Any help?
