A cube is a geometrical object with 8 corners, 12 edges, and 6 faces. In speedcubing, the term is used to refer to puzzles in the shape of a cube; more specifically the standard Rubik's cube is often just called 'the cube'. If a cuber wants to talk about some other specific cubic puzzle, they will almost always specify it, i.e. by saying 'the 4x4 cube'.
