Overview of steps
1. EO223
2. Corner Permutation
3. dBR square + dFR pair in U
4. COR (Corner Orientation Reduction)
5. EPLP (Edge Permutation Last Pair)
EO223
In this step you must solve edge orientation and a 2x2x3 block in the dl position of the cube. This can be done in many ways. You could do FBEO and then solve DFDB while preserving edge orientation. You could also solve the dL 1x2x3 block and then do EOStripe like in LEOR method. The last way you could do this is first making a 2x2x3 on left and then do edge orientation with algorithms.
Corner Permutation
Int this step you must permute the remaining corners on the R and U layers, this reduces the cube to fully R U generator moves. To do this first you must place both D-layer corners in their correct layer (Being swapped in D or not) using only R and U moves. Next you must look at the top layer and recognize the permutation of corner pieces by recognizing twisty COLL. After this you must hold the two corners that need to swap in the UFL and UFR position and then do the algorithm: D' R U' R' D. This algorithm will preserve the EO223 and Permute the corner’s correctly. Another algorithm for when the corners to permute are in UBL and UBR: D R' U R D' To permute the corners diagonally: R D R' U R D' To permute the UFR and UBR corners: D' R U R' D (or D R' U' R D') If corners are swapped in the D layer, use recognition to make the top corners permuted diagonally, making it an twisty anti-coll recognition.
dbR Square + dFR pair in U
In this step of ECCE method you must make the dbR square and create the last pair and hold it on top layer. The creation of the dbR square is done entirely intuitively through block building like in Petrus right block but just the square (this is done with only R and U moves). After this you make the dFR pair and hold it in the U layer. This is done just like a CFOP F2L pair except it is done entirely with R and U moves to not break corner permutation or edge orientation. Overall this step is mostly intuitive.
COR
COR stands for corner orientation reduction. This means it simply reduces the cube from just having the pair made to with any random corner orientation case, to having specifically the R U’ R’ Winter Variation case. This is done by using one of 27 algorithms called COR that reduces it to this specific cube state.
EPLP
EPLP stands for Edge permutation last pair. This algorithm set solves the permutation of the last 4 edges while inserting the last pair it has a total of only 12 algorithms, all recognizable by 3 pieces: the UR edge, the UFR corner, and the FR edge. These algorithms are mostly (if not entirely) R U generator.
Pros
- Low algorithm count
- Mostly intuitive steps
- easy recognition for algitized steps
Cons
- Mid-solve corner permutation isn’t the best
- Contains a lot of thinking in the first 2 steps due to the complexity of corner permutation and edge orientation
- Higher movecount average
