I have had mixed opinions on this so I will make a thread for this for some exposition; I am asking because I might be buying this soon and I want one that connects to Cstimer and is relatively cheap.

You can with the cable. But i wouldnt recommend doing it co cstimer because malfunctions happen and you have to delete the time then. (Thats how I have 200 dnfs on 2x2)

That's the old Qiyi timer. You might want to also look at the new Qiyi timer that just came out a month ago.

An employee of qiyi told me that the data from qiyi timer is encrypted, and they don't want to make the timer connect with cstimer wirelessly.

Yes, you can connect old QiYi and new QiYi Smart Timer to csTimer using cable, even on mobile phone. The key is to use proper 3.5-3.5 cable like original QiYi data cable. For newer mobile devices which has no direct 3.5 Mic input you can just buy USB OTG adapter + external USB sound card.

Regarding wireless Bluetooth connection, yep, currently QiYi Smart Timer is not supported by any of 3rd party software, but this may change in the future. Anyway you can use it with original Smart Player mobile application. It is not such bad, and quite usable for typical speedcubing workflow. Although it works only online, and you can't import/export any data from it.

But if you want to easily and wirelessly connect timer to csTimer and other speedcubing software like Cubeast, CubeDesk, Cubic Timer (fork of Twisty Timer), I'd recommend to buy GAN Smart Timer. This will work together with most of devices like PC, Phone or Tablet without much effort.
