i was reading about the cube on wikipedia and look at this!
"Conception and development
In March 1970, Harry D. Nichols invented a 2x2x2 "Puzzle with Pieces Rotatable in Groups""
(wikipedia)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubik's_cube
"Nichols' cube was held together with magnets. Nichols was granted U.S. Patent 3,655,201"
so i researched this patent number (using google.com/patents) and it states that his name is not Harry but Larry Nichols???
Also, from wikipedia...
"In April 9, 1970, Frank Roxy invented and applied to patent "Spherical 3x3x3", he finally received his UK patent (1344259) on January 16th 1974, but still before Erno Rubik received his."
i couldn't find anything on this patent, but it's still interesting to see the erly stages of the cubes life.
any comments???
