What's better/more beneficial for getting faster, a 2x2 or 4x4?

Hey guys,
Just a few quick questions regarding a 2x2 and 4x4.

What cube would be a better cube in general?

I thought of some questions that can help you think about that I believe make a cube better such as:

Is the cube fun?
Does it help you improve (get faster times) on the 3x3 in anyway? If they both do, which one would be more beneficial?

The reason I am asking these questions is because I am looking for a way to increase my general intuition of the 3x3 and I thought that solving the 4x4 or 2x2 would help. Although if I had a 4x4 I wouldn't be solving it that often due to it's longer solving time, I am just looking to increase my intuition (to ultimately increase my speed) on my 3x3. However a 2x2 on the other hand is faster to solve and I would use more often, but I am willing to learn the 4x4 if it helps me get better at the 3x3 more then a 2x2 would.

Thank you for reading this post and Thanks in advance if you reply to this topic.

If you want to get better with intuition, get a 4x4. I like 4x4 since I think it's a good size cube - it's not too big, but it's also not something that takes not long to do at all, like 2x2 is: 2x2 only takes a few seconds. Imo, 4x4 is one of the best puzzles.
but I still don't really practise it because I prefer 3x3

Definitely 2x2, if you want to improve your 3x3 times. Reason: (imo) There are some fingertricks that are much easier to get used to on 2x2 than on 3x3, for example lefty double flick U2, or F' with your left index.

Get both!

I agree.

The 4x4 cube (and bigger) will help with intuition and look-ahead. I do really slow solves on my 5x5 which over the last month has really helped my look-ahead.

The 2x2 cube (and smaller [wait - no]) will help with finger-tricks and algorithm learning.

I'd say play around with both, and after a while you'll see which one you prefer. A while ago I was hesitating between 2x2 and 4x4 as my favourite events, in fact, but I began getting more and more interested in 2x2. 2x2 is my main speedsolving event, now, and I'm currently learning my CLLs (still slow).

Bld!?

"Speedsolving" as in non-BLD. Don't worry, BLD is still my favourite and best!!
