Hey Cubers!
I'm not sure if I am going to the Virginia Open or not..
But!
I will try!
I'm only 12, and I still average around 35ish seconds, by November I will average around 29ish maybe 30ish or lower, should I compete or just watch for this?
anyway, if I do compete, it will be my first time :) :) :)
Heres the LINK
to the details.
Post here if your going or if I should compete or any other random thing.

You should definantly compete. No matter what your time is, a competition is an oppurtunity to meet other cubers. Chris Hardwick, Adam Zamora, Mitchell Stern, and many others are going to be there. There's no reason to not compete, and it gives you a sense of satisfaction. I've only been to one competition, but I definantly was glad I went all the way to Chicago for it.

You should definitely compete. You'll be far from last place. My daughters will be competing (one is 7 years old, the other is 8, so you'll be far from the youngest there as well), and they're averaging 2 minutes and 1:30, respectively. (Hopefully they'll be a little faster by then, but still - they're going to be WAY slower than you.) And actually, you'll probably beat me in 3x3x3 - I'm still averaging 35 seconds, and I'm going to be mainly practicing for the big cubes BLD between now and then.

Well then you should try your hand at 2x2x2, don't you think? :)

And then there's Pyraminx, Magic, etc. Lots of opportunities to branch out. I'm not saying you should do it for the Virginia Open, but for the future, it's worth considering.

Looking forward to meeting you at the Virginia Open.
