umm.... 2x2 world record?

so, a few weeks ago i was just timing myself with the 2x2. on one particular solve, i solved the first layer, and to my surprise the cube was done! i got a time of 3.12...

does this happen often, or am i just an exceptionally lucky guy?

it's not totally uncommon.
unofficial record for a single solve is 1.41, so yeah.
