Type A Question

So on my Type A that I ordered I noticed that the corner pieces have removable panels in them. I begin to think that it would help reduce friction for speedcubing. Any thoughts on why these are like this?

best thing to do is just try it

They stop all the cube-crap from getting into the corners and you having to clean them out. If you leave them out they will pool all of the lubricant in them too, stopping it from being effective.

the purpose of corner caps is to stop lubricant pooling, reduce lock-ups and using less plastic thus making the cube lighter and cheaper
