Hello everyone, allow me to introduce myself, my names Reverend Pickles and i'm not like you wonderful people . The first time i got a Rubix cube in the early 1980's i smashed the thing to pieces out of frustration , i could never do the thing !
I joined this forum to help my son, he is too young to come on here so i was looking for a bit of advise really as i have entered him into a cube tournament and as much as he is very exited i wonder if i have done the right thing?
He's 9 years old and can do all the cubes in what i think is a good time (i think it's good but you guys are the best he has only been doing this for 7 months!) 3x3 he does in about 30 seconds, the pyramid i think they call it he does in about ten seconds, and the 5x5 takes him about 2 minuets (little tiny squares!)
Could anybody tell me about these tournaments please because this is not what we are used too, we are coming for a bit of fun really and to learn from you great people!. our sport until now has always been boxing but we always teach the children to use there brains rather than bruise them and this kids really listened and makes me proud! , I wondered if anyone could advise the boy how to get quicker, thats his number one question he asks me but for the first time in my life i can't answer him, in a nut shell he has no teacher but as a father maybe i can solve this problem for him by asking you lot !
I taught my boy education is everything! I didn't have one, he does well at school and remembered my number one rule in this life . " Two types of people in this world! ...problem solvers and problem identifiers ? ...which one are you ? " never did i imagine the boy would start solving Rubix cubes! (kids eh!)
any advise would be great, and thank-you for having me aboard.
God bless you all
