Rusted springs on a storebought

ok, so i was cleaning out my core, all was well, until put my cube back together. it had a real vaseline feel to it. i wrote it off as there being a little bit of vaseline left in my cube(i use vaseline for a week then clean it out and lube with crc or jigaloo).

after cleaning my cube out about 3 times, the feling was still there. so i inspected the core, and i found out the springs were rusted. does anyone know how i can fix this, or am i out of luck?

You're out of luck, but you can order new springs... You must have gotten water on them when you were cleaning the cube.

if i order new springs, how will i put them in, the cube in question is a storebought

You could like, not clean out your cube.
Or just clean the cubies and wipe the core.
Consider it a lesson learned.

I've had rusted springs before, and they didnt have a profound impact on the cube.
