Wasn't sure if this should maybe go in the 'hardware' area... but given it's lack of ability to rotate, I figured I'd toss it here.

I just made this Easter egg today after work (yes, a bit late for Easter, but I like making them). A Rubik's Cube made Ukrainian Easter egg (Pysanky) style!

As you can tell, a fair amount of the dye got onto my hands in the process.

I need to get more pics of the blue side... didn't realize I missed that one almost completely. The colours yellow, blue, and orange turned out really good (white as well of course, but that's just the colour of the undyed egg), but red was somewhat dark, as was green. Just the way this particular egg soaked up the dye. Also yes, I hollow them out first, thus the hole. Don't like the method of leaving the eggs full.

So... yeah, figured I'd mix two hobbies of mine. Enjoy :D

That's cool! It's been ages since I've made one. I'll have to try something like this if I ever do again.

Inf3rn0, It's actually dyed. If I remember how to do it, you put wax on all of the areas you don't want dyed. After the egg is dyed, you melt off the wax with a candle. You have to repeat this with each color you want to put on it.

Correct, it's dyed, and it is indeed fragile. But yeah, MMP got the general thing right. Use a kinda drawing tool to draw wax over whatever you don't want dyed, dunk it in whatever colour till the egg is that colour, repeat the wax treatment for what you want THAT colour, continue. Generally starts with white, yellow, green, blue, orange, red, then black.
