i want to get rid of all the lube inside my 3x3, and i want to know a good way to do it. any suggestions?

Well it would help if we knew what kind of lube it was. But for the most part, I think water works the best for removing lube.

it's the liquid wrench silicone. it kinda messed up my cube. makes it feel funny, and it still smells, so i know it's still there. i want to get rid of it, and relube it with CRC silicone.

CRC is a good idea, please, for your own safety and health, don't use that liquid wrench stuff, made me pass out one time.

Just rinse it out with water.
But if you really wanna get it out, take an old toothbrush and scrub the pieces.

you'll find it at any walmart probably. i didn't think it'd be at walmart like everyone said, but i found out i was wrong. take a look sometime

Hmm... I had a similar problem with WD40 3-in-1 Silicone Pro.

I took it a part and let it dry for a week. Then I sanded it back and sprayed it with CRC 808. It's working fine now :-)

EDIT:

I sprayed one of my cubes with CRC Dry Glide yesterday and just assembled it. It seems to have worked but is this stuff bad for your health? :-P

I clean with water & soap, like dishes, every 4 - 6 weeks. Don't use the dish-washer but the old-fashion hand-cleaning!
I use the same speed-cube for almost 3 years now and it's still very nice & smooth.

You need some kind of soap or detergent to dissolve the lubricant - water alone won't do it, and a toothbrush is a good idea for scrubbing each little piece.

I wash my cubes like Gus does - I take them apart and wash the cubies in a sink full of soapy water, like dishes. I do not wash the core - I just wipe it down with a dishcloth and dry it. However, if you're using paper stickers (i.e., the ones that come on a store bought cube), soaking them in soapy water will damage them. Vinyl stickers and Cubesmith tiles (which I use) seem to do fine.

okay i just washed my cube in a sink of soapy water. forgot to ask earliar, but how long do i need to wash them? and what do i need to do? just let them sit there? wash them thoroughly?

It's just like washing dishes - they don't need to soak for very long.

1. Fill up the sink with water and dish detergent. Alternately, you can just fill up a good sized bowl.

2. Take your cube apart - leave the core aside.

3. Dump all your cubies into the sink (or the bowl) full of soapy water.

4. Take a dishcloth or a toothbrush, and pick up each piece individually and either wipe down all sides, or give it a good scrub with the toothbrush.

5. Then rinse each piece really well and dry it.

6. Now use your dishcloth or your toothbrush to give the core a good "once-over" and wipe it dry.

7. Put your cube back together.

CAUTION: Do not drain the sink until you have taken every cubie out. Just to be safe, once you think you've got all your cubies out count them. You don't want to wash any little pieces down the drain.

Also: Depending on your lubrication method, you may want to lubricate it between steps #6 and #7. I like liquid lube, so I put my cube together and then lubricate it. If you're using a spray, it's a good idea to spray it first, let it dry, and then put your cube together.
