Disclaimer: Not a speed cuber. I solve for fun, using a block building method similar to what you might know as Petrus or Heise. Currently looking to cut down my move counts. This forum is gigantic and I wasn’t sure where to post this, hopefully a mod will move it if needed! Hopefully the terms and notation are acceptable, feel free to correct me.

Near the end, I often end up with two edges (GREEN in the diagram). I need to swap them, without scrambling the RED pieces. The WHITE pieces are UNSOLVED and can freely move.

The sequence I came up with is: R U R’ U, repeating it until the edges are properly positioned.

Is there a more efficient method, possibly using fewer moves?

The shortest sequence to swap the edges under your conditions is U R U R’ U R U R’ or U’ R U’ R’ U’ R U’ R’
