Okay, so I really am starting to like and practice OH again, and I need some advice. Currently, I use index push for U and pointer finger R'. I average ~28 seconds this way. I also can use the jap technique, (pinky R', index flick for U) and I average ~45 seconds with it. Do you think I should switch entirely to the jap technique or stay with my old one? I'm not really sure of any disadvantages or advantages of the two methods, so can anyone who uses one of them share some opinions on which might be faster in the long run? Thanks! :)

I'd recommend doing the index "pull" for the U, and pushing up with the pinky for R' (I do the mirror for my right hand).

I'm assuming you're using your left hand for OH:

push for U and push pinky up for R'

OR

push for U and pinky R' (japanese style)

OR

just do the fingertrick (R' U) with your pinky pushing up DRB, then DRB becomes BRU and sort of tilt the cube (z) and do U (R with z-tilt) with pinky. If you need a video demonstrating this, I can make you one.

I use part japanese and part not I think.... I push on the LUB sticker for U and do the pinky finger trick for R' (putting your pinky on FRD and pulling back). Using this method my average is 25.00 and using full japanese style my average is 36-37 :P

Yes, I can do this, but I don't really like it, nor am I that fast with it. I think I might try to learn the pinky R' (the japanese thing) and continue doing the U index push instead of the flick.
