Hey guys, I don't post on here often but I'll do it this time, because I feel like it's important.
Today, I was notified on Facebook that a cuber by the name of Gabriel Kwong passed away after injuries of being struck by a car. Some of you, mostly the older members of this forum, may remember him as "uniacto". He was incredibly active 2012-2013, and helped run the "Race to sub-15 thread" during this time. He went to UW, and was one the first friends I made at a cube competition. While it was also his first competition, he really showed me how friendly people could be in the cubing community, and it really saddens me to see someone who was such a nice and kind person in the community leave so early. I'm still in shock about the news, and my condolences go to his family. He has a YouTube channel, so if you want to leave some kind words, that would be great.
Guys, it's always really heartbreaking to see someone in the cubing community go, so I just want to remind everyone that we are a group that has been built on friendliness and kindness. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the community has become a little bit more negative. Maybe not on this forum, but overall I've seen less of that accepting kindness that I was introduced to. For me, this was a wake up call.
Thanks for reading this long ramble, I'm just still in disbelief at what happened.
