OLL/PLL avoids parity?

Hi,
I was solving a 4x4 cube, when at the last layer I got parity (using begginer's method)
I saw the parity before I oriented the 4 last corners, so I did OLL and then PLL and my parity were gone

is this just a coiencidence?

Thanks

which "beginners method" are you using? eg: what order do you solve your LL in? Many do Edge OLL, Corner OLL, Corner PLL, Edge PLL but there are many methods which do them in different orders so saying you saw the parity "before orienting the last corners" I'm not sure what state your cube was in. Also, what type of parity was it, Orientation or Permutation? And was it single or double if it was Orientation?

Based on my admittedly limited experience, I don't think simply solving OLL and/or PLL will solve parity. But I certainly could be mistaken :) I'm interested to hear what others have to say though!

edit: I also wonder if what Cubes=Life says is true as well and maybe you didn't have parity at all. It IS possible, no?

it is possible, I basicly used the Dan Brown method, get the top cross, postition edge, position corners and orient corners. when i positioned the corners 2 of them were switched.

Yeppers, Your Oll and Pll, and beginner method algorithms *CANT* fix parity, because they cant permute the edge pieces, they only move the pair.

I believe 2 or 4 edges were mispermuted.

So I probably missed it...

Thanks though :)

and I do have parity algorithms (one for edge and one for corner)
but I don't have them memorized
