I turn 63 in a week and I solve the 3x3x3 in about 30 seconds average.
I'm trying to determine if there is anyone older than me AND faster.
Obviously there are many faster but are there any older as well.
I know a couple that are 58 and 60 that are much faster than I am (they are in the 20 second range)...but I want to know if anyone my age or older is faster.
I also use my own method, not ons of the modern algorithms.
Thanks in advance.

Sure thing....here's my method.
1. Top-4 Corners Correct-Color-Up (Orientation but not Placement). (Free style)
2. Bottom-4 Corners Correct-Color-Down. (One of several algorithms)
3. All 8 corners correct. (But I don't usually align them).
4. Key Step: I build the Top edges in such a way that I then do a transform on them....to get the middle layer.
A. It's called railroad tie....because it's 3 strips.

So the Green Yellow and Blue Yellow edges...you can't see. But by doing it this way....you can do a half-turn on Red & Orange and D' (Blue side)...and get to....

Then you do the top edges, and then the bottom edges.

I created this method originally....to make it easier to teach someone with fewer algorithms.
Back in the day....I kind of used only a couple different algorithms (repeated) to get the bottom 4 corners.
I would build the top 4 corners....then the bottom 4 corners. (replace that with Varasano's method later on).
I basically did one move from different directions (a few times total) to get the bottom 4 corners in place and in orientation.
Then...build the top (railroad tie)....build the bottom....and then one three-cycle...(also repeated)....to finish it off.
I use to say....if someone could do the top layer easily (in a minute or so)....that I could teach them the whole cube in
about an hour. (And they would be in about a 5 minute range at tops).

Ok...feel free to ask any questions.

So....it looks like I only have 2 people to rule out.
And...one I found on facebook....and Linked-in....and I think she's one year (or two) younger than I am. (That's Donna Hays).
And that leaves David Faust who seems to have only participated in one competition.
Thanks for everyone's help.....I'm doing a friend request (and message) to Donna....and hopefully she will reply.
Not sure how to find more info on David.
Thanks again all.
Although I'm very busy.
I'm an indie-game-dev that's created my own original IP (called Clutter) and I'm working on my 11th game in that series.
