the only good one would be fto since
8x8 is another big cube
master pyraminx is another pyraminx
2bld is another blind event and would be another fast even thats way to luck based
mini guildford would take way to long and could bring back the schedule
and giga/kilominx is another megaminx event

In my opinion, 2BLD should be added because it’s like 2x2 except you have to rush one-looking.

It is also a less challenging BLD event to get a success at, as the memorization with the old Pachman method is pretty easy. If you know EG, it’s also pretty easy to get a success.
Is it just me that thinks -
If that was the case, how do you think 2x2 itself would be affected (then again, it is already pretty quick) but maybe we could see some faster results overall if people do 2BLD along with regular 2x2

What happened to 2x2 OH? Was it just too short?

Top100 would equal sighted 2x2, and it would be hard to regulate. The executions would be sub-1.5 if not faster for luckier scrams. Can judges put a sightblocker in that short amount of time.

Here's my take:

While 8x8 would add yet another higher NxN to the WCA it is an awful candidate overall. It would slow down competitions tremendously and a majority of the competitors would DNF due to the time limit of the SpeedStacks timers 10 minute cutoff. Hardware is also very expensive. And since 7x7 is already event 8x8 adds nothing.

While Master Pyraminx may seem like a good choice at first due to the immense popularity of pyraminx I do not think that this is the best option. I do however think that this is the most up for debate. Top Master Pyraminx solvers like Harsha can solve it in under 20 seconds leading in to the first event that would have top solvers in the 10-20 second range other than 4x4. And with better hardware good times are definitely achievable. However at the the slower end of things it would most likely slow down comps due to the immense range of times and not much popularity compared to other choices. Most of the people who are into Master Pyraminx are top Pyraminx Solvers so this event would not give a good window to new names.

2BLD. In my mind this is just a instant no. At the top level 2BLD = 2x2 with inspection. And with enough top 2x2ers speeding through one-looking 2BLD just becomes yet another sprint event. And just like Master Pyra it does not open up a new window to new names.

For Mini Guilford I just have two points. 1: Takes too long. 2: Just has event already in the WCA but together. To be fair it does open up a new window to solvers such as Luke Garret and other all-rounders. To conclude, Mini Guilford adds nothing new or special.

Gigaminx would be FAR to slow for the WCA. With the best solvers in the world solving between 4:45 and 6:00 it would easily overtake as the slowest WCA event and hardly anyone would compete in it. While Master Kilominx is just faster Gigaminx, still slow but not as much. Top Kilominx solvers are also sub 20 and would create a new window of nice times for the WCA. However I do not think that any of these puzzles should be added to the WCA as they all are just more easier/complex Megaminx. Mega is an amazing event for the WCA but these other minxes don't have much else to bring. But, like the Mini Guilford they do open up a room for new names as top solvers.

FTO. This event is my #1 for the WCA to add. There is so much hype around this event right now. It would unlock a totally different event that is unique from every other event in the WCA. And with the Diansheng FTO M that is coming out (hopefully) soon this event would have good hardware too! This event also was one of the events at CubingUSA Nationals which is the second largest competition ever. I think that FTO is the best candidate for a new event in the WCA.

Cuboids: My main problem with any one of the Cuboids are... which one? There is so may different types of cuboids are if one gets to be a WCA event there will always be people upset that their favorite Cuboid was not selected in the WCA. Cuboids can be solved very fast but also is very repetitiveve. And with the very small group of people that want Cuboids in the WCA there is not any good reason for any Cuboid to be in the WCA.

Mirror Blocks (And other shapemods): I don't see any reason for shapemods to be in the WCA. It is just a different kind of 3x3 that brings nothing unique for the WCA.

Relays: Just NxNs but more at a time. Adds nothing, NxNers would dominate and depending on the relay it might be very slow.

Higher Order BLD events: Really. Really. Guys isn't 5BLD enough.

Something that is applicable to all of the slower events is lack of spectator friendlyness.

Thank you for ready my essay and let me know your thoughts on my opinions!

FTO- I've never tried it, but it seems popular. Might be good.
8x8- It would just be a long event that doesn't add anything.
Master Pyraminx- I feel like this would be a fun event, plus the time range is reasonable. (Might be biased as I do Master Pyraminx)
2BLD- Would be too hard to judge. Also, a big part of the scramble would be the orientation, meaning competitors kinda get different scrams.
Mini Guildford- A little long, but would be good for all rounders. Problem is, events like 2x2 hardly make up any of the time.
Gigaminx- Too long
Kilominx- Might be nice.
