i'm not sub 20 avg yet, not even single but i like to put my imput in, because of the topic i started yesterday. i started a topic to see how people would solve a certain scramble. and i especially was interested in the difference of the cross and f2l. (to learn from it.) But then someone pointed me to this topic. and this topic has alot more examples

cross was like normal speedsolve.
it wasn't lucky i guess, this is just the way i would 'speedsolve' it. but i did it in a slow solve. but i didn't search for it. just picked the first pair i found. but i maybe if i really speedsolved it, i would mess up more. and no i'm not really good. well my lookahead is bad. i take too much brakes.

tomorrow i will try a scramble, and first speedsolve it, and see what i did, and then like this a slow solve. see if it's very different.

but when i saw your findings paige, and saw some people with a f2l of 45, that's very long i think. even if i speedsolve i can't imagine i will get that much. but i'll try tomorrow.


edit: i think the main difference with my solve and that of a sub15 solver. my lookahead is bad.
that's why the solutions are as i would solve them. when i speedsolve i fill in one pair, then look at the U layer en find another pair. Most of the time the one in front of me, but i try to find the best pair possible. So when solving the first pair i have the choice of 4 pairs. at the 2nd 3 possibilities.
when you are using lookahead. while solving one pair, you can't keep track of 3 other pairs(i think), so you will use the one you notice while solving a pair. so you basicly have only one choice for your next pair.(i think )

so maybe for a sub30 solver the f2l is more efficient(lower move count), but more breaks.
and a sub15 solver has a bit higher movecount, but more speed because you have no delays.
what do you think?

If you look carefully you will see that this thread is over a year old. I daresay this study is no longer going. You do not need to participate.

@jms_gears1: People tend not to post in threads in which the last post is over a year old. Have you looked above the user's name in the last post? It reads "04-23-2008 10:30 AM". If you did indeed notice that this thread is over a year old and no-one has posted in this thread for over a year, then why did you decide to post in this thread?

I'm on the fence with bumping old posts. I think if someone has something useful to add to an old thread, at least a bump proves he's searched and read the original rather than starting a duplicate. Uselessly bumping an old post is just annoying.

In this case, though I'm sure the "study" is over, I'm unsure whether this is an interesting addition to the discussion or not. The reason I closed it was a) only one person needs to point out someone else's mistake (if this even is one), and b) Stefan has the authority to re-open it if he feels the new solution merits discussion.

If either of those were not the case, the thread would probably still be open.
