A video of me using MBR to get a 22.30 average of 5.
The times were pretty good, not a PB, but very consistant for me.
The 19.30 was nonlucky, I was just able to see the entire first block in inspection.

Method: Matt's Block, a blockbuilding variation on the Roux method, plus some optimizations.

Cube: I call it my C/4U, it's a Type C (retooled) with Cube4You hardware and core, wth CubeSmith half-fluoro stickers.

lol, nice

anyway your SB sucks.
You really should stop doing pure MB its kinda stupid to not take advantage of an easy 1x2x2 because you can only use MB.

Yea. I'm still going to work on my CMLL and LSE first though.

I use the 1x2x2 for Petrus and ZZ, but for Roux it feels so strange.

Really nice! Cool editing and music too.
But you should not touch the cube while starting/stoping the timer, remember that in a official time you will be using a stackmat.

Thanks, it honestly took me like 20 minutes, but I'm really happy with it!

I just realised that now, it's a very bad habit of mine (probably because I don't have a stackmat to force me not to). I'll work on that for the next video, in which I'll eliminate most of my bad habits (bad angle, stoping/starting the timer, iffy +2's).

A tip:

Never rotate the cube while doing Step 4a or Step 4b. You don't have to check to see if an edge is mis-oriented at DB and you don't have to check to see if one of the UL/UR edges is at DB. Your mind will know the orientation after practice and usually you'll be able to know if the other UL/UR edge is at DB (or DF if you can't see the L or R color). If you can't tell where the UL/UR edges are, you'll see them soon after starting the orientation.

Apparently I wasn't around, so explain "Matt's Block".

Thank you for the tip!!

I'm recently embarking on the 2.5Look LSE, which I only have to look at F and U for. Although I know over 80% of the cases, I'm not using that in speedsolves yet, so I had to default to my fail EO. I'll work on it though!

MBR (the term was coined by Waffle) is basically using 1x1x3 blocks instead of the standard 1x2x2.

While I still find this approach decent for 1st block, today I decided to switch over to the 1x2x2 for th 2nd. Gears pointed out just how much my second block sucks so I'm working on switching over (but still using MBR for cases where the 1x1x3 is already solved).

EDIT: One thing to note, Matt's Block Roux was primarily designed for beginners. It's strength is being able to segway from 1 piece at a time to advanced blockbuilding. I've succesfully taught MBR to multiple people with much ease.
