Loud Cubing Experiences

I like loud cubes. I have an A5 modded to Haiyan Memory, and I enjoy the clicking and clacking as I solve.

I'm not saying I dislike quieter cubes, or only buy loud cubes, but I am not one to get annoyed at loud cubing.

Now, the things is, my wife absolutely hates the sound of my cube, whenever I'm solving it. Whenever she hears it, it's like a pet peeve. It wasn't like this before... but, the more I got into speedsolving, the more she hated the sound.

It has nothing to do with cubing itself, as she also solves the cube, but whenever she hears me going full speed, with the clicking and the clacking, it gets her annoyed.

Anyone have any similar experiences with others around you? Maybe friends who aren't cubers, and hate the sound whenever you're around solving?

We were watching a sad movie, And out of nowhere I started cubing with this loud cube. Didn't matter because we were all crying anyway.

Yeah, same deal. I try to only cube whenever my apartment is empty so the sound won't bother anyone. If I really want to do some solves while people are in the room, I bust out my broken-in storebought. It's been sanded and worn in to the point that it's basically silent now. I can cube with it on the couch with my wife sitting and watching a movie next to me and she doesn't care.

haha my wife and daughter hate my maru 4x4. my daughter is doing coloring books at the table and im at the table with her and she is like 'DADDY!!! ITS SO LOUD I CANT CONCENTRATE!!!' and my wife thinks its like listening to popcorn in the microwave all day long. they'll live ^^;

I'm in the same boat. I bought both an F-II and a GhostHand on the reputation that they were quieter cubes so I wouldn't bother my wife as much.

24-modded store-bought: loud as hell
YJ 3x3: really smooth and quiet

Nobody ever cared for the cube's loudness, but did care that i cube all day an' night long...

My brother is sort of indifferent about my loud storebought. He notices the sound, but isn't bothered by it. My parents are a whole other story. I don't really cube outside of my house, so friends and strangers aren't really a problem.
