Looking for an original plastic Zhanchi

I think I know that "lighter" feeling, it means that the things feels more toy-like, flexible. And they make a higher sound. They feel a lot better if you glue them together.

Also, I paint my cubes and spray them with clear varnish which is a thick coat and makes them more solid. And since paint doesn't peel, they don't end up looking like they've been dropped in a pond and digested by an alligator.

I have a 55mm DIY but I'm pretty sure it's the new plastic as it is lighter in tint than some 57mm guhongs I've got.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. And yes, the 55mm are only the new plastic, but for some reason, much smoother than the new 57mms. Not sure why, because the plastic looks the exact same and feels the same other than the smoothness.

By confirm you mean he told you Just because 2 cubes feel different doesn't mean it's for the reason you believe. Could be a number of things. Stop being an ***** and ignoring the fact that the CREATOR himself has verified no changes have been made to the plastic used. Jeez.

He also denied it to me. The honesty behind that is debatable. If you believe they are not different, so be it. We see a difference in the cubes.

Having been in manufacturing, I have a lot of sympathy for the guy who said they hadn't changed the plastic.

In addition to differences between batches, there are also different sources. So one suppliers plastic might be quite different from anothers. Even things made by the same company with the same name can be different. For instance, Coca Cola uses high fructose corn syrup in some countries, sugar in others, depending on which is cheaper locally. But even things that are sold with the same name can be very different. Like "honey" or "bread", the products from different companies are going to be different.

If I recall correctly, when I looked around for data on the friction of these sorts of plastics the only thing that came up was information related to their resistance to flow during the manufacturing process. This is what the plastics industry cares about. The friction between plastic surfaces is of little importance to them. Speed cubing is a very unusual application of plastics.

In short, speed cubers are probably much better at distinguishing different plastics than the manufacturers are.
