Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I'll go with the D/A combo, seems to be the cheapest bet for me. Any place I should look to ensure I'll get a Type D with good screws?

9spuzzles has the Type Ds with the old, good screws. They call them Yugas instead of Type Ds there.

I think, but I'm not sure, that only the black and white Type Ds on Cube4you have the new, bad screws.

my cube is extremely loose and never pops, and its a type A

Yeah, the new Type D cubes have such crap screws. Man it's disappointing I'm going to try different cubes from now on. I'm ordering a white Joy cube soon, and i plan on ordering a Rubik's.com DIY soon as well, also white.

I just got a Rubiks DIY about a week ago. Get it! It is by far my best cube and the high cost was totally worth it. It feels perfect imo.

i have a white rubiks.com diy... aside from the crap center caps its actually really good but i find that mine locks up alittle
