I was wondering how much the community cares about corner cutting in a cube as opposed to other aspects such as smoothness, anti-pop mechanism, and so on.

I was also wondering if you would prefer a cube that can corner cut smaller cuts very easily, but not cut past that point, or weather you'd like a cube that can corner cut a wider range with more effort. Here is a picture which uses the first corner cutting design:

The second design type would be the standard rounding of corner like the Fangshi has.

The first one is obviously superior because advanced speedsolvers don't cut over one cubie at all.

Is that a reverse modern alpha with big corners and a small centers? How would the middle slices be for normal sized fingers?

Modern corner cutting like you find on a Zhanchi of Fangshi Shaunren is about fine. I really wish reverse corner cutting was smoother, less likely to bind or twist a corner, and deform the cube.

I also think that easy small cutting is far more important than large cutting.
I do not understand test of "how much cube can cut" during unboxing. People should concentrate more about small cuts efficiency and smoothness.

I honestly think that two things make for good corner cutting, which, along with general speed of the cube, make up the formula for the perfect cube (perfect varies from cuber to cuber).
Basically, it needs to be able to reverse cut almost line to line smoothly, effortlessly, and not lock up the cube. Farther needs to be possible (though, the only cube that can reverse cut line to line is a well tensioned Weilong) but it's unecessary in most cases.
Normal cutting doens't even need to be 40 degrees for a faster cuber. It just needs to be effortless, smooth, and be depenable in not deforming the cube. If it does, it locks. Lockups are what nobody wants. When you try to cut too far, even on a good Weilong, it will lock. You'd be suprprised how much corner cutting plays into the speed of the best cubers in the world even if they have accurate turning. That's how part of why cubing has gotten so much faster in the past few years of innovation.
So, the formula that results in fast execution + no lockups is the winner.

It's an E-cube. Go join twistypuzzles.
