Hey guys, I just bought a Rubik's.com DIY. I've wanted one forever and now I finally got it. After assembling it (I haven't even stickered it yet) I've noticed that there is going to be a big problem with center caps falling out. I don't want to glue them on so I was wondering if there was a way to help them stay in.

P.S. I did use the search function! I don't know how you guys use the search function because I've never been able to get it to work. I'll sometimes search for a thread that I just made and it won't pop up.

And since there are very few reviews on the cube, I'll try to make one. I bought it based on the few people that have posted good things about them.

Try the paper square way. Cut a square about the size of the cap or a little smaller. Make sure to use thick paper.

Where do I put the paper? Inside the center pieces (just above the screws)?

Edit: So far I'm only really having trouble with one center cap.

Wow...I've stickered/lubed the cube and I must say my first reactions are pretty good. The cube feels exactly like Nakajima's looks in his videos. If I could get the center caps to stay on I could really be able to make a review on it.

I need to learn this too, as super glue had been my only solution. I believe the concept is the paper square must be "barely" big enough so that when you place it between the cap and center piece, the little teeth on the cap will jam tightly inside the center piece. I say "barely" because you don't want paper sticking out around the edge of the cap. Right? If this works, I will probably get more cubes from Rubiks.com.

Aha! Makes so much sense! Thanks, I'll have to go try this.

I've had the same trouble too. My Type C couldn't hold the center caps so I glued them. It was my first DIY ever, so it wasn't that big of a loss.

Makes sense, but it doesn't work....not yet anyway.

I used some nail polish. you put it on the lines of the cap, put it on your cube and you don't cube for 3 minutes. you can get it off verry easy if you stick a knife in your cube. but it will not fall off.

Paper squares really do work, and it works really well, when I was using it on my rubiks.com cube my caps never came off. When Johannes first suggested it to me I couldn't get it to work.

You have to use thick paper, like index card thick, I couldn't get printer paper to work as well (and especially notebook paper...). Cut out a square about the size of the center cap, place the square on the center, then put the cap on and push really hard, you'll feel it slide in when you've done it right. What I was using before paper is super-glue but that left crusty stuff on the edges of the cap...so if you have that, make sure you scrape all of that off perfectly.
