Is recording an MBLD attempt with a 360 degree camera a good idea?

The main motivation is to make sure the solver and all the cubes are visible at all times.
Even GoPro fails to capture the solver+all cubes sometimes (this is subjective to GoPro's position on a tripod or a table)

Some doubts:
  • Is it hard to edit an hour long 360 degree footage? (editing software processing time is not worth the effort)
  • How much file size does a 360 degree footage for one hour? It is an order of magnitude more than a HD phone camera hour long footage?

Interesting thought. My dad was a professional photographer, and he still loves his trade/hobby, so I've taken a liking to camera stuff, and I have some comments on this: 1) A 360 camera may be a bit over kill as to film a whole table would at most require 180 degrees assuming that the table is a usual table. 2) Cameras with ultrawide-lenses could easily get the job done. 3) 360 cameras are relatively expensive action cameras because of there large fov. 4) because of this large fov, certain models sacrifice high megapixel count which makes for poorer resolution when zooming in after-take.

To conclude, I don't think that 360 cams are absolutely necessary for mbld, but now that you mention it, I do think that 360 cams are a good idea for all comps. these cameras, placed in strategic locations, could capture any record in any event, and would be useful in a situation like Yusheng Du's where the quality of the footage is only at surveillance level.

Thanks for your inputs!

Turns out even after 1.5 years of thinking about this being a good idea, I still cannot afford a 360 degree camera 😕 :?.

It costs 450$ which is a lot to spend on a camera.

For the time being I just record using android phone from two angles using two ad-hoc tripods.
