And looks like you don't even need to have done it legally, you can just tell WCA what you prefer, just like with first name (remember Microwave). Some quotes (from major WCA people, I think):

the original message is you cannot change your gender to farm records. changing your gender marker because you are trans is a legitimate reason to do so. we are talking about two separate phenomena.

If you have only lived in the US for 18 months and the rest in India, you should pick India. I would suggest the country you are a permanent resident in.

you are correct. the correct wording is should not. but if you can find an example of someone who has changed their gender marker and is not trans, let me know.
