I think its fine, I've seen YiHeng put his fingers that close on some of his solves so they should allow it.

on the WCA forum i kept suggesting that the cube be placed farther from his / (anyone’s) immediate reach….

Seems fine, but personally I wouldn't put my fingers that close to the cube
