How much of an advantage are marked stickers?

So, if someone were to somehow mark each sticker on their cube so that you could immediately recognize the other sticker(s) on the piece, how much faster would they be? It wouldn't have to be especially inconspicuous, one idea would be to tint the sticker the color of the other sticker (divide corner stickers in half diagonally) or to have the outer fourth of the sticker be the color of the other one. I realize this isn't going to be competition-legal but I'm just curious.

Personally I feel like it would be more of an advantage to people in the 20-40 range than anything, because to get sub-20 you need to have pretty good look ahead anyway.

Dan Cohen once told me that he could recognize a particular wing on 4x4x4 from one side, due to a chipped sticker.

For fast 3x3x3 cubers, I don't think it would help much *on a solve that is already going well*, but I it could be very useful in BLD.
