It happens a lot that while solving f2l, we have corner inserted, but edge not inserted. So what we do (at least i do) is insert it by a 8 move sequence.
How about, letting the top layer edge stay in its place, continue solving, orient the remaining 3 (or in some cases less) top layer edges by normal algs, and account for the the wrong edge in the PLL stage by using a setup move, this will definitely save much moves, i m not sure if this will save time and if its worth practicing.

What do you guys think on this? Do some of you already do this? Or does this idea suck?

P.S Well, this thread might not be neccessary, but dint feel if one answer question thread would be an appropriate place to ask this, plus could not find similar one (moderator delete post if so). Please dont curse me guys :|

I do that in Roux if I mistakenly miss out an edge. It costs me an extra second or so, so less than trying to insert the edges (three moves only, mind you).

With CFOP, I do this too because I do CLLELL. I usually multislot to avoid that dreaded case though :)
