I learnt how to solve 3 years ago, really got into it a few months later, after that I quickly became sub-60, then sub-45, then sub-40, and I averaged 27.34 for my first official ao5, and in the second round that day I got a 26.75 average. Then I quit for over a year. Once in a while I would pick up a cube, but I didn't practice anymore. I remember bringing it to a vacation in Costa Rica, but losing it on the plane ('it' refers to my Zhanchi, my best speedcube at the time) and that really made me think about it more. A few days before we came back home I was curious, so I looked up the WCA page and found the Indiana 2014 competition. My mom said that she would take me if I actually practiced. So, on August 23rd, I went. I competed in 5 events, and beat my official PB singles and averages for all of them (except Pyra, which I had never officially done before) with a 3x3 average of 20.68. My best solve was a 19.56, among two other sub-20s. I met some fast solvers there, and saw Lucas Etter tie the 2x2 average WR. After then, I got serious about cubing again. There was actually another competition somewhat nearby coming up, in Lawrence on Nov. 1. My dad took me, and I continued my PB average streak with an 18.76 in round 1, and then a 16.98 in round 2 which was less than a second out of the finals. When the organizer announced the next competition, I already wanted to go. I was sub-18 by then, and managed to get a 16.23 average for the first round, which was already good for me, and then I got a 15.03 average which was over 2 seconds faster than my global average. My single was sub-12, which was almost my PB at the time. It took me almost 2 months to get my times down to what I got at the competition. Now I am sub-14 and am hoping to get a sub-12 average at my next competition.
