This discussion is to have a broad outline (experience based) of how much effort it takes to overcome each MBLD barrier.

I will be measuring MBLD barrier in groups of 10 points and start off with the first 3 barriers as I have some experience with it.

10 points - sub-1 3BLD level and no MBLD practice required. No need of memory palace as well, as sentences and chunking can work upto ~110 letter pairs.

20 points - sub-40 3BLD, and some MBLD attempts practice required, knowledge of review system and comfort with number of cubes in a pack should be decided

30 points - sub-30 3BLD, consistent MBLD practice with good review system. A lot of pack practice should also be done. The long term cubes should stick well and work accurately with 3 pass or 4 pass.

40 points - More practice

50 points - Analyse Rowe, and Graham's attempts, try to maintain same pace. Learn advanced stuff like full floating and LTCT to save algs and memo and exec time.

60 points - Don't give up, keep adding cubes, deep analysis of attempts to gain more time to fit more cubes in an hour

70 points - Watch Rowe this year, no one else is here, too early to say about work required to get official result of this level

80 points - No comments and irrelevant as of 2025

One more thing that I feel makes an MBLDer more capable is their ability to sit at one place for a long period of time. This may sound like a simple task but it is quite hard to do well. It is also one of the reason why older cubers are better MBLDer and the peak performance for MBLD is achieved in adulthood and not in the teenage years of the cuber.

For sprint event speedsolve, it is fine to be fidgety , moving around and be aged small, and still make progress based on algset knowledge, TPS, fingertricks and pattern recognition.
