Why not? Just because Harris Chan is faster than you with a store bought doesn't mean you shouldn't use a DIY. It makes the whole solving process more pleasant.

I tried doing the 4D cube, I didn't get it..

I got a DIY to have more control I guess, I also wanted to be able to solve it faster (and it dropped my average by 20-30 seconds on average (but got close to 1 minute less in a instance), and the one I had before is falling apart.
