Hey everyone,

I'm Alex, and I started cubing a few months ago on an old crappy storebought cube that my cousin gave me for no particular reason. Averaged ~4min at the beginning, bought an RS3M and currently average sub-50, PB 39sec. All I own is the RS3M, but a friend taught me to solve a pyraminx, and given a mirror cube, I could probably solve it given an hour or so.

I've been using a program called Block Keeper to time/record solves, and it's been great, but the video quality is terrible. Mostly it's due to my camera, which is a 720p 30fps laptop webcam, but when recording with Block Keeper it's most certainly worse than recording with the Windows 10 Camera app. Any other programs I could try? I really like the recording functionality.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums!

As for your recording software, getting better software will not help your webcam quality. I really never record with my built-in webcam because of its terrible quality. But, if you were to buy an external webcam, you probably could still use Block Keeper to record your solves with higher quality.

I'll get a webcam at some point, but for now I just don't know how to explain the difference between recording with Block Keeper and recording with the Camera app. One thing about the webcam though... I have no idea what to get. 1080p at 60fps would be best, but I'm not spending 60 bucks on a webcam. Any suggestions?

Will framerate be an issue as well though? Here's my embarrassingly bad pb for reference...

As I said, I'm not a webcam expert, but here's what the amazon page says (see highlighed area):

Finally figured it out... the lower resolution I record at, the better the "framerate" is. Something weird going on here, but tbh I much prefer the framerate over the resolution.
