Hello everyone, I am a 17 year old who only picked up his first rubix cube 2 weeks ago. I was instantly hooked, through looking up tutorials online I came across the world of speedcubing, which perked my interest eneough for me to purchase a stickerless YJ youlong(?), which I hope was a good choice.

I have been using the beginners method to solve my cube, basic f2l then the yellow t, corners etc etc. I set a new personal best today of 58.33 seconds, which I am happy with with this method but do not feel like I would be able to improve my time by much more with this method. I have been looking into cfop and am practicing all of the f2l side/edges alogorithems, but am finding it very hard to memorise them all. This hasn't turned me away though and if anything ahas spurred me on, and I look forward to learning new methods and techniques with which to solve my cube.

P.S. I bought a 2x2x2 cube two days ago, and despite videos online claiming to have an easy method to solve it that can be learned in 10 minutes, I still can't do it, could somone link me to a helpful guide if possible. Thanks :)

Nice to see a fellow Scot, welcome! Whereabouts in Scotland if you don't mind me asking?

You seem to be going in the right direction for 3x3. For 2x2 there are some beginner friendly methods you can use such as Ortega (AKA Varasano), though as TDM says you can solve it like the corners of a 3x3 too.

I am in Glasgow, yourself?

Welcome! The surprising thing you'll find is that just sticking with the beginner's method your times will drop, just by practising. Learning CFOP is a good idea too, but don't feel you need to learn it all to get quicker straight away. My son got to sub-30 using just the beginner's method.
