[Member Intro] Hello! Cube coach here!

Hello! My name is Maria, I'm a college student that averages around 9 or 10 seconds on 3x3. I'm looking to start an affordable coaching business for any beginner or intermediate solvers looking to get faster or break some tough barriers, like sub-1 minute, sub-30, and sub-20! One session is $15 and 4 sessions/month is $65! If you're interested shoot me an email at [email protected]!
HELLO FELLOW COACHER!
I hope your coaching does well!
LOL it didn't work well for me at all.
Welcome to the forums, and I hope you enjoy your stay here!

gng bro doesn’t know what I’m doing during these critiques😭💀🙏
here’s an example from @Martyt7777 ‘s critique (marty pls let me know if you don’t approve of me sharing your critique)
Solve 1: i don’t think that timer stop was legal lol (yiheng wang ahh timer stop). But onto the actual critique, cross was good, first pair was different, but not really practical. A better pair to go for would be the green-orange pair, which for some reason you didn’t see until after the second pair. Right now you should be trying to improve your cross to first pair transition, so i suggest you start learning how to predict cross+1 on scrambles with cross solutions that are 4 or 5 moves. Your lookahead is also lacking, so i suggest improving that by doing timed slow solves where you focus solely on looking away from the pair you are doing, which i call “look away and lookahead”. There are also some F2L cases/triggers where you regrip when it’s not needed, like L U’ L’ or R’ U R. For the last pair you regripped for the first R move when you could have left your thumb in home grip and just do R normally. The same applies for OLL, where you can just do a pinch U after the R move to avoid regrips.

solve 2: that should be a plus 4 not a plus 2😭 fix those timer stops please. I saw an easy first pair (green-red pair) which would have been better for a first pair because it would solved into the back-left slot (usually where you want to solve it) without having to rotate, which would have also saved a regrip too. You also need to work on lookahead and cross+1 since you paused for every pair even though your solutions were very straight forward. “Look away and lookahead.” A better OLL algorithm would be: f’ L F L’ U’ L’ U L S. You need to also improve your PLL and OLL recognition. I suggest learning 2-look (or the idea) PLL and training your exec using bestsiteever.ru.

solve 3: first thing to note was that you rotated during cross which is not good, a better solution would be: r U’ r’ R’ U’ B’ D2. This sets up a free pair Lookahead was the worst among the 5 solves, hence, being the worst solve of the average. While doing first pair, don’t forget to lookahead to the second pair, and the second pair lookahead to the third pair, etc. Also, before rotating, make sure you know what pair you are going to do so that you don’t have to rotate and then rotate back. Also fix the timer stops!

solve 4: You rotated for cross again, and even though it was an xcross (rotating for an xcross is usually accepted but don’t do it all the time), the solution was overall kinda long and choppy, so here’s a better solution: L B' F2 R D L' U L' D2 which sets up into a free pair in the back left slot. A lot of pauses and rotations for F2L, i said it in the last 3 solves, look away and look ahead. Also, don’t ever rotate unless you know what pair you are gonna do next. Also improve the PLL exec using bestsiteever.ru. I swear if this last solve also has a KARATE CHOP TIMER STOP (that rhymed) i’m gonna crash out and spam your profile everyday telling you to not karate chop (i’m serious). Also don’t regrip for R U R’ U’ R U R’, just use pinch moves.

solve 5: for cross, a better solution i found was: y2 R' F R F' U D R B L F, which is kinda advanced for your skill level, so maybe something better would be: F l B L F, which leads into a 5 mover (green orange pair) which you can solve like this: F R’ U’ R F’. Also try to avoid peeking to the B layer, as that’s almost the equivalent of rotating. I’m not gonna mention lookahead here as i’ve already mentioned it in the last 4 solves, so just know that you need to improve lookahead. And lastly, don’t regrip for R U2 R’ U’ R U R’, just use your left hand to double flick the U layer instead of your first hand. And for the very last time, STOP KARATE CHOPPING😭😭💀💀😔😔🥀🥀

summary of things to improve:
stop karate chopping like yiheng and xuanyi
Lookahead
Cross solutions
regrips and rotations
learn how to do Cross+1
Learn how to solve xcrosses more efficiently

this was as of like 4 months ago
My apologies. 🤣

kind of a long story but i was really into cubing like 8 years ago, and i practiced like 2-4, pyraminx, megaminx, and square one a bit but then I stopped cubing for a lot of years and only really remember 3x3 and can do 4 and 5. Right now though I average like 1:10 on 4x4 and maybe 2:30 on 5x5. everything else i just solve for fun or forgot
That is still way faster than me, I average 16 on 3X3, under 1:40 on 4X4 and lil over 5 min on 5X5 🤣 (just started learning!) I am also a recovering cuber, 5 yrs
