I've joined this forum as my 7 yr old son is obsessed with cubing. He wants to go to a competition (as a competitor!) And I have registered for one, but now wondering if we've been a bit hasty.

I'd love some advice on how the comps are run, what to expect on the day etc. Its the one in Spalding, UK, 25/26th Feb.

An 8 Year Old almost broke the 3x3 World record this weekend.
So even if it's frustrating for old guys like me to get beaten by little kids, it's the best age for cubing ;-)

Cubehead has a nice WCA Competition tutorial that is maybe a little less dry than the WCA regulations

In most competitions parents or other non cubers can also volunteer for judging. In these cases you could probably judge your kid to give him a little more confidence. I would go to the "First Time Competitor Info" and talk with the organizers
