I have heard a lot about silicone and how it is better than Vaseline because Vaseline ruins the cube. I used it for about a month, and my cube was fine. Has anyone tested this out at all or heard from anyone about it?

When people say "ruin" their cube, I don't really think it makes it so that you cube is unusable, just so that the plastic is somewhat eaten away. After using vaseline, on black cubes, you can see what some may call gunk, just basically little black things in the vaseline and on your hand if you touch it. That is what vaseline does to the cube. I don't have a problem using vaseline. I like to use it when I first get the cubes, smaller break in period than silicone. But after having a cube for a while, I like to just spray it.

I've used a vaseline cube when I first started. Now, it is verry hard to turn compared to one of my silicone lubed cubes. Vaseline is extremely hard to remove too, so I don't recommmend it.

I first tried using Vaseline on a rather loose cube. It actually made it much harder to turn. It made my best cube become my worst cube. :(

I used vaseline a lot in the 80's and it really "ate" my cubes in 3 to 9 months.
Since 2005 I used silicon spray and I use the same cube now for 2 years already

To corwin: Did you break in your cube before spraying?

To Tomarse: What are you using exactly. There are kinds of silicon that do the opposite of what they are supposed to do.

when I use vaseline my cube get's like um...like sort of charcoaly and when i touch the inside I get black stuff on my fingers...
