Nope....
This is something I have been doing since I knew enough about the cube to do so effectively. Basically this is how I will describe it.

This is NOT a blind method.

Solve however you want. Sometimes I will do corners first, others I use Petrus, Roux, CFOP, edges first, only use commutators, only use PLL's or a combination of them.

Just do it how you want. I think its fun, especially when just messing around (I don't speed solve while doing this). I think it could be good to develop different skills or things like that.

I think the main reason why I do it is because I have a 'vision' of knowing an insane amount of algorithms, methods and techniques so that I could have this 'higher knowledge' about the cube. Not just in algorithms but in methods, commutators and things like that. Basically just to have the ability to do anything I want/need during solves.

If anyone does this or has thoughts I would enjoy knowing!

Side note: I think making this thread will help motivate me to put more effort into my 'vision'

Yup. I was just listening to the cubecast with you on it and it made me realize what I've been doing.

Welcome to the club :)

I started with LBL, then moved onto CFOP.
Then at my first comp I met Anders Larsson who solves CF.
When he would set up an easy edge case I had to go through all of CFOP to solve the case...
Talk about a major eye-opener :)

From that day I have been looking into different methods.
I like to understand the different steps in them but I don't really study the specific algs though.

You should try the weekly FMC, you can un leash all your knowledge on a single scramble and then compare your solution with those from masters like Guus, Okayama and Irontwig.

Yes yes that's a good idea. Try it.
I would use many methods but sadly I'm averaging 20 seconds with 2 methods and 12 seconds with another :/

Edit: bear in mind it will take longer to improve.

@OP: You have chosen the red pill of the tortoise vs. the blue pill of the hare.

If you will permit a nudge, I suggest that block-building is central to all methods. Petrus first, or Roux. Then CFOP yields an effortless x-cross.

Color neutral from the start. It is the future. Why play 1 hand when you can pick the best of 6? Pocket Aces, beatch!

15 seconds is an ETERNITY to someone who has put 10,000 hours into it.

Multi-slotting is the future. Try to predict what's going to happen much further away than you would normally think possible.

I am now watching you, bwronski, and will hold you accountable. Produce.
