If you're an avid visitor of the Speedsolving community, as many of us our, you may have noticed, perhaps back in '07/'08, or maybe today, that there is a thread called "Forum Teamsolving," or something like that.

What I suggest is that we make a Speedsolving chat room just for these 'events.'

I have made a picture of such a chatroom (in paint; haha) and feel as though this would work well

This is what I was thinking for the sections of the attached pic.:

Scramble-The current scramble; duh

Solution-The solution that the 'chatters'/'solvers' have come up with so far
-It would be almost necessary for the chat room to have some code to check if the 'solution' fixes the 'scramble.' Once this happens, a new scramble should be made.

Discussion Space-Just regular chat stuff, like "Let's do a petrus solve!"

Input Space-where one would be able to type/click something such as "U2"

Anyone up for this?

PS-The words 'teamsolving' and 'speedsolving' are now in my Chrome dictionary :p

And do we have a chat-program that fits these needs?

We could use the Java client like on that Rubik's chat thing? (can't remember name or URL)

Edit: Freejavachat.com
I don't think that one can do everything the topicstarter wants

How would the input be controlled to the solution? We can't have U2, y2 D2, and F R F' L' all being input within 2 seconds of each other.

A specified order of who inputs?

To clarify:
I was thinking more along the lines of a new chat room, but perhaps 'linked' to the existing one.

If you saw my picture, you'd see one idea how (graphically, anyway) this could be set up.

The programming part is more difficult. I'm more used to C++, and could help with Java, but there seems to be more advanced, and willing programmers that have already posted

Thanks

I can do it in perl. I already have an irc bot with a lot of different scramble types and I have this: http://pjameson.awardspace.com/sim/alg.html

I'm sorry if awardspace is being slow, it's not the best hosting site :/

Shouldn't be that hard to implement them both together. Why not have it in one chat though? The bot can differentiate from input and chat.

If you really want two chats, you can make a page with frames, top one has chat, bottom input.
