I just got a GTS2M and it was awesome, instant new main. Then the 6 year olds got ahold of it.

It got dropped (probably multiple times) on the hardwood floors and I could tell that some of the magnets had come loose as they were rattling around inside.

Last night I disassembled it and fixed about a dozen or so magnets. A couple of them I had to fix more than once due to errors since this is my first time messing with magnets. Anyway, eventually I got all the polarities correct (all pairs attract) and reassembled the cube.

It works, but it doesn't feel the same. The magnets feel stronger and the cube does not turn as easily as before. I tried adding some weight 5 lube. I tried cleaning out all the lube. I tried adding some weight 2 lube. It still feels sluggish compared to before.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with it? I'd rather fix it than have to order a new one.

Check for any residual glue on the outside of the pieces. And you may want to take it apart and reassemble without the core to check for polarity. If there are issues with polarity, the cubie pieces will not hold themselves together. If everything's good, they will hold together.

Yes, I did that last night - all the pieces hold together with magnets alone and no core. I'll break it down and inspect for glue residue, good idea.
